Choose a Marketing Channel You’ll Stick With Long-Term
If you’re picking a marketing channel based on what’s trendy… you’re already on borrowed time.
I’ve seen this play out too many times with agency founders:
- They see someone crushing it on YouTube.
- They tell the team: “We need to be doing this too.”
- Three months in, the uploads stop. The editor’s confused. The founder’s drained. And nobody talks about it again.
Why? Because they chose a channel that looked like a fit, but didn’t feel like one.
Here’s the truth most won’t tell you:
👉 You won’t stay consistent with a channel that drains you.
Even if the metrics are right, the energy has to be too.
I chose a newsletter as my main medium. Not because it’s the hottest thing. But because I love writing. It energizes me. I could do it for years—and plan to.
That’s the real filter:
✅ Would you still do this channel if you got zero traction for 6 months?
✅ Does it play to your strengths and feel like play, not punishment?
✅ Can you do it weekly for 3 years without resenting it?
If not, you’ll fake consistency for a while. Then disappear.
Your leads and your brand will feel that drift.
Audit your marketing right now:
- Where are you faking consistency?
- Where does the energy feel forced, not flowing?
Then, make a decision:
Pick one channel you love.
Commit for 36 months.
Let time do the heavy lifting.
That’s how trust compounds.
